DENVER - The massive renovation of a hotel in Downtown Denver is turning out
to be great news for several local charities.

Earlier this year Sheraton bought the old Adams Mark hotel at 16th Street
and Court Place. The company decided to renovate the building and all of the
rooms. Instead of tossing out the 2,000 sheets, pillows and blankets from
the old hotel, the staff of the hotel chose to donate it to those who need
them.
"It was really our housekeeping teams that were looking at all of the items
we were bringing out of the rooms and we had in storage," explained Mike
Ehmann, the general manager of the Sheraton Denver Downtown hotel. They
said, 'can't we do something that can help the community?'"
Starting Wednesday, hotel employees helped to move the donations from
storage to trucks from the Samaritan House. The items were taken to the
non-profit's warehouse, where it will eventually be given to groups
associated with Denver's Road Home, the city's program to end homelessness.
"At this time of year, there's a great need," said Ehmann.
The $70 million renovation of the new Sheraton Denver Downtown hotel is
expected to be finished in mid-2009.

plans to test its new Noca Kitchen fast-casual restaurant concept in
downtown Denver, the company said Tuesday.
Seasoned Development, based in Chicago, recently leased 5,500 square feet of
space at 1433 17th St. for a Noca Kitchen location scheduled to open in
spring 2009. The lease is for 10 years.
"Noca Kitchen is going to be a substantial growth vehicle for us in Denver,
as well as the rest of the country," Seasoned Development co-owner Robert
Thompson said in a statement.
The chain's concept is affordable gourmet food influenced by Northern
California's wine country, served for lunch and dinner; there also will be a
wine bar. Restaurant decor will be high end and modern.
Menu items, ordered at a counter, will range from chardonnay rotisserie
chicken and grilled artichoke to pork tomatillo pizza and a chicken Brie
sandwich. Checks are expected to average $11 to $17 per person, with no
tipping because there's no wait staff.
The local Noca Kitchen is being design by J.G. Johnson Architects of Denver,
in a California ranch theme "with Frank Lloyd Wright influences," according
to Seasoned Development.
Seasoned Development's other restaurant concepts include Atomic Cowboy,
Brasserie Rouge, B-52 Billiards and Havana Dinner Lounge. Denver's Brasserie
Rouge and B-52 Billiards, both located downtown, have closed, but there's an
Atomic Cowboy on East Colfax Avenue.

Noca Kitchen restaurant coming to Denver

plans to test its new Noca Kitchen fast-casual restaurant concept in
downtown Denver, the company said Tuesday.
Seasoned Development, based in Chicago, recently leased 5,500 square feet of
space at 1433 17th St. for a Noca Kitchen location scheduled to open in
spring 2009. The lease is for 10 years.
"Noca Kitchen is going to be a substantial growth vehicle for us in Denver,
as well as the rest of the country," Seasoned Development co-owner Robert
Thompson said in a statement.
The chain's concept is affordable gourmet food influenced by Northern
California's wine country, served for lunch and dinner; there also will be a
wine bar. Restaurant decor will be high end and modern.
Menu items, ordered at a counter, will range from chardonnay rotisserie
chicken and grilled artichoke to pork tomatillo pizza and a chicken Brie
sandwich. Checks are expected to average $11 to $17 per person, with no
tipping because there's no wait staff.
The local Noca Kitchen is being design by J.G. Johnson Architects of Denver,
in a California ranch theme "with Frank Lloyd Wright influences," according
to Seasoned Development.
Seasoned Development's other restaurant concepts include Atomic Cowboy,
Brasserie Rouge, B-52 Billiards and Havana Dinner Lounge. Denver's Brasserie
Rouge and B-52 Billiards, both located downtown, have closed, but there's an
Atomic Cowboy on East Colfax Avenue.
