DENVER - The massive renovation of a hotel in Downtown Denver is turning out
to be great news for several local charities.

Earlier this year Sheraton bought the old Adams Mark hotel at 16th Street
and Court Place. The company decided to renovate the building and all of the
rooms. Instead of tossing out the 2,000 sheets, pillows and blankets from
the old hotel, the staff of the hotel chose to donate it to those who need
them.
"It was really our housekeeping teams that were looking at all of the items
we were bringing out of the rooms and we had in storage," explained Mike
Ehmann, the general manager of the Sheraton Denver Downtown hotel. They
said, 'can't we do something that can help the community?'"
Starting Wednesday, hotel employees helped to move the donations from
storage to trucks from the Samaritan House. The items were taken to the
non-profit's warehouse, where it will eventually be given to groups
associated with Denver's Road Home, the city's program to end homelessness.
"At this time of year, there's a great need," said Ehmann.
The $70 million renovation of the new Sheraton Denver Downtown hotel is
expected to be finished in mid-2009.

DENVER - The massive renovation of a hotel in Downtown Denver is turning out
to be great news for several local charities.

Earlier this year Sheraton bought the old Adams Mark hotel at 16th Street
and Court Place. The company decided to renovate the building and all of the
rooms. Instead of tossing out the 2,000 sheets, pillows and blankets from
the old hotel, the staff of the hotel chose to donate it to those who need
them.
"It was really our housekeeping teams that were looking at all of the items
we were bringing out of the rooms and we had in storage," explained Mike
Ehmann, the general manager of the Sheraton Denver Downtown hotel. They
said, 'can't we do something that can help the community?'"
Starting Wednesday, hotel employees helped to move the donations from
storage to trucks from the Samaritan House. The items were taken to the
non-profit's warehouse, where it will eventually be given to groups
associated with Denver's Road Home, the city's program to end homelessness.
"At this time of year, there's a great need," said Ehmann.
The $70 million renovation of the new Sheraton Denver Downtown hotel is
expected to be finished in mid-2009.
